Microwavable Cookware in Solar Oven

Yesterday, after writing the blog post about using the Tupperwave Stackable Cookset in the solar oven, I wrote an email to the makers of the Global Sun Oven asking if microwave cookware can be used in the solar oven. Below is their response.

We don’t recommend anything microwaveable be used in the GLOBAL SUN OVEN.  The only cookware/bakeware that should be used in the GLOBAL SUN OVEN is cookware/bakeware that can be used in a regular conventional oven.

I was a little confused by the response because I watched a video on YouTube that stated that cardboard egg cartons could be used in the GSO to make “hard-boiled” eggs. And I don’t think that the cardboard egg cartons can be used in a regular oven. So I asked another question and they responded.

I’m still confused why we can use cotton towels and cardboard in the GSO but not microwave cookware. Since they did use the words “not recommended” and didn’t use words like “absolutely should not” or “highly advise against” and they didn’t give me a health reason why I shouldn’t use them, I will continue to use them. But you must decide for yourself what is best for you and your family.
